Lusting: Michael McGuire

It was your typical summer afternoon a few years ago when I strolled into one of my favorite antique + furniture haunts -- Scout -- in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood. The owner, Larry, has an amazing eye and a trove of insane finds so I like to peek in on a regular basis.

It was this particular day that I become acquainted with Michael McGuire. I immediately fell in love. Totally enamored with his work.

He's a local artist to Chicago which is an added bonus. His pieces range from works in black and blue acrylic to pens on cardboard to simple watercolors. I love this piece (below) from one of his recent commissioned jobs (below).

Looks like a thousand little Sears Towers buildings, no? Pure genius. I don't know if it's the simplicity I find so beautiful or the architectural vibe prevalent in much of his work that's got me hooked.

One of his pieces will adorn a wall in my personal home or a client's. Someday. That much I am sure of.

Hats off to you, Mr. McGuire.

Adoringly yours,
