What's a designer's most difficult task?
Answer: Redoing a room in their own home!
I was at a loss as to what to do with my formal living room during my home's remodel. Stuck. I felt that I had exhausted all of my interesting ideas in other rooms and spaces. It was like writer's block, but in designer form. I had my painter paint the walls white and the trim a charcoal grey and put it on the back burner.
Now, it's time to tackle it.
There is one thing I know for sure: Green. Emerald green to be precise. Green is my favorite color in its every shade and I want to use it in some form in this room. Sofa pillows? Pull-up chairs? Accessories. It will have a presence in this room.
I want to do a textured wall covering like a grasscloth possibly. Something warm to provide some contrast against the charcoal trim. And I want to incorporate peach as an accent. I know, I know. You think it's like an 80s throwback color, but I disagree. I think it's coming back in a major way. Ahem, see the combo below:
I want people to question it and then go: Oh, that kinda WORKS.
I don't want a stuffy space. I want it to be warm, inviting and fun.
The to do list: Cocktail table, window treatments, an etagere, pillows, and to track down a fun porter chair to recover and a new rug.
Keep you posted on my progress.
